Cloud Computing or cloud computing in Spanish, are those software services that we can access remotely through an internet connection. Thanks to cloud computing we do not need to install any program or application on our device since all files and programs are hosted in the cloud; online environments where applications run.

These cloud services, which can be public, private or hybrid and offer infrastructure (cloud storage), platform or software services.

Features of Cloud Computing:

Cloud computing, by definition, is characterized by the following elements:

  • Scalable: the scalability of the cloud refers to the capable that it can be adapted to the needs of the user so that if he needs a greater capacity, he can offer it.
  • Speed: cloud computing services are based on the latest technologies to offer the user as quickly as possible in the execution of processes.
  • Multi-device: being hosted on an online server, we can access it from any device with an internetconnection.
  • Self-repairing: these technologies have backups that insure us against possible cases of information loss.
  • Cheaper costs: a cloud service is cheaper since the costs are distributed among thousands of users and does not require as much use of physical resources.

 

Advantages and Disadvantages of Cloud Computing

Cloud Computing has turned out to be a very successful process thanks to the numerous benefits it offers, although this is not without disadvantages. Among the main advantages of cloud computing are:

  • Ease of use: cloud computing processes can be started very easily and implemented quickly since it is not necessary to install any software, but everything is done through the web.
  • Energy saving:The energy expenditure of the cloud is much lower than that of traditional datacenters.
  • Adaptable: if the user has greater requirements at any time, they can expand the services since cloud servers are characterized by their scalability.
  • Portability: we can access our information from anywhere in the world as long as we have an internet connection, and through any device.

As for the main disadvantages:

  • Security: Classic application systems have always been considered much more secure since they are less susceptible to cyberattacks than Cloud Computing systems.
  • Dependency: In cloud systems we have a total dependence on the Internet to access our data.
